One Saturday morning I was watching Parveens Indian kitchen and she made Chapatti and it inspired me to give it a go. She was right, they are easy, I would totally recommend you try making some too.

I use this flour as it's 100% wholewheat.

I did my usual internet search to find a recipe, after looking a few and trying some out I settled on 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon of oil. Chetna's video is great, really simple and easy to follow. I got mine to 3/4 puff up using her technique, I still can't work out why they won't 100% puff up but I'll keep trying, they still tasted really nice.

Recipe:

2 cups Chapatti flour

1 cup of water

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon of olive oil

Put the flour, salt and oil in a bowl, add in most of the water and bring it together into a dough by hand, this will literally take a few minutes, no kneading required. Different flours need different amounts of water to form a soft dough, I use the full cup, but feel your way. If it gets too wet you can just add a little flour. When you've got your dough put a little bit of olive oil on your hands and rub them over the dough ball, rest the dough for 10-15 minutes, I tend to put a damp tea towel over the bowl. When you're ready to cook take a golf ball sized piece of dough and roll it into a ball with your hands then using a rolling pin (or wine bottle!) flatten it out into an approximate circle. Heat your frying pan, get it nice and hot (no need to oil it) and put your chapatti in, after a few seconds you will see bubbles appear, flip it over at this point then let it cook for another minute then flip it over again. Using a clean tea-towel you now press round the edges of the chapatti, giving it a little spin as you go and it puffs up! Its' ready to eat now, Chetna puts a little butter on hers, I put a little olive oil on mine. Give it a go and let me know if you can get the full puff!
